TITLE:Molecular mechanism of antibiotic resistance formation in Salmonella Enteritidis regulated by a two-component system and screening of its targeted natural antimicrobial compounds

ABSTRACT

Salmonella Enteritidis is an important foodborne pathogen, which often possesses antibiotic resistance of yearly increasing prevalence and broad spectrum, posing a threat to food safety. The two-component systems (TCSs) consist of a sensor histidine kinase and a response regulator, which regulate gene transcription by activating phosphorylation. Early studies have shown that TCSs are widely involved in several biological processes of bacteria, including virulence, chemotaxis and oxidative stress. Recent studies have found that TCSs also play an important regulatory role in antibiotic resistance formation in Salmonella. Thus, it is considered as a potential target for controlling drug-resistance bacteria. In the current presentation, the presenter will briefly introduce the basic background of TCSs, the key function of TCSs in antibiotic resistance formation, and explore the possibility of targeting TCSs in combined antibacterial.
